Company-wide Commitment to Health & Safety
Every employee of AsureQuality is expected to share in the commitment to health and safety. Each employee, as specified in the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, is expected to play a vital and responsible role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace through:
- Adhering to and observing safe operating procedures, rules, and instructions without causing injury to themselves or others.
- Compliance with AsureQuality’s and our customers Health and Safety Programmes and Policies whichever is greater.
- Ensuring that all near hit or near miss incidents, injuries and actual or potential hazards are accurately and promptly reported to their Line Manager.
- The early reporting of pain and discomfort.
- Actively participating in early return to work and rehabilitation plans.
Legislation We Follow
- The Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and amendments.
- The Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, and amendments.
- The Australian Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991, and amendments.
- All applicable New Zealand Food Safety Authority directives relating to food hygiene.
- Relevant health and safety policies and procedures as required by our customers.
- All other relevant legislation, codes of practices and safe operating procedures.
Management Responsibility & Accountability for Health & Safety
Line Managers at all levels are responsible and accountable for ensuring compliance with AsureQuality’s duties as an employer in relation to the staff they manage. This involves a commitment to continuous improvement in health and safety management in their area of responsibility to:
- Provide and maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide on-going training in health and safety, standard operating procedures, including the safe use of plant machinery and equipment.
- Develop procedures for dealing with emergencies that may arise while employees are at work.
- Lead hazard management to take all practicable steps to eliminate, isolate or minimise the risk of injuries and/or illness from identified actual and potentially significant hazards.
- Implement injury prevention initiatives and programmes.
- Provide health monitoring of employees exposed to significant hazards that have been minimised by controls.
- Support employee consultation and participation in workplace safety management practices.
- Advise AsureQuality of any shortfalls in health and safety policy and/or suggest improvements.
Management will ensure that employees are consulted on all relevant health and safety matters where practicable and address employee health and safety concerns through the workplace health and safety representatives and coordinators.
ACC Accreditation Status
AsureQuality is an accredited employer with the Accident Compensation Corporation holding a “Prince” accreditation.
