• Establish beekeeping industries, for both smaller scale village operations and large commercial ventures
• Improve honey bee breeding stock
• Evaluate and develop markets for bees and bee products
• Draft legislation which regulates the bee industry
• Develop bee disease response and control programmes
• Carry out surveys for bee pests and diseases
• Develop quarantine systems to maintain or improve a country's bee health status
• Train potential beekeepers or project managers (either in their home country or New Zealand, using customised training programmes as required)
