From 1 December 2008, the current export winemaker audit will be replaced with a new verification system that will encompass both export requirements and wine standards management plans (WSMP).
A wine standards management plan (WSMP) is a document that demonstrates how a winemaker is meeting their obligations under the Wine Act 2003 by providing a single, comprehensive and verifiable regime for compliance with food safety, wine composition and labelling and overseas market access requirements.
All Wine Act verification activities must be undertaken by persons who are recognised verifiers under the Wine Act. Building on a legacy of over 100 years experience technical expertise in the field of independent quality assurance, AsureQuality are recognised verifiers under the Wine Act.
You need to submit your WSMP to the NZFSA for registration by 1 September 2008 to ensure they meet the legislative deadline.
