Human & Wildlife (Biota) Testing

We offer ultra-trace level measurements of a wide range of organic chemical stressors of interest to human health and wildlife health risk assessments.

Measurements in Support of Human and Ecological Risk Assessments

High quality, real numbers are vital to gain effective data from the statistical models used for risk assessments.

Scope of testing

There are many environmental indicators that need to be measured in human serum and wildlife tissues such as serum, liver, adipose and brain material, in order to properly assess impacts and potential impacts.

The methodologies we use cover existing and emerging contaminants of concern including persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as dioxins, dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), brominated flame retardants (BFRs), pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs), pesticides, disinfection byproducts, and anthropogenic and petrogenic chemicals such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

Testing techniques

We use analytical procedures based on the latest US Environmental Protection Agency isotope dilution methods.  These are performance-based and use both high-resolution gas chromatography / high-resolution mass spectrometric (HRGC/HRMS) and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) techniques to provide the greatest sensitivity and selectivity.
