Certification of your Risk Management Programme (RMP)
A RMP is designed to identify, control, manage and eliminate or minimise hazards and other risk factors so that the resulting product of any business dealing with meat products and any animal product such as casings is fit for its intended purpose. AsureQuality, as an approved Certification Body for RMPs can help you achieve this.
What is a RMP and why do you need one?
The Animal Products Act (APA) 1999 is New Zealand’s legal framework for processing animal material into food, such as meat and dairy products. It establishes a risk management system that requires all animal products traded and used to be ‘fit for intended purpose’ through meeting New Zealand animal product standards.
If you are a primary processor or exporter of animal products, including meat, game, seafood, dairy and honey, then you need to comply with the Animal Products Act 1999. NZFSA sets and administers food safety standards under this Act. The APA requires that RMPs are implemented by businesses processing animal material to identify and manage potential hazards in order to ensure that the resulting animal product meets relevant standards.
