Based in Auckland, PestLab uses pathology, entomology and nematology expertise to diagnose diseases and plant pests for processors and exporters. Services include insect identification, pest management, lists, surveys and research and pest contamination ID. Our diverse customer base includes commercial growers, orchardists, nurseries, industry groups, research institutes, government agencies and local authorities.

AsureQulity's PestLab is a highly specialised plant pest and disease diagnostic facility that is fully accredited as a biosecurity diagnostic facility by Biosecurity New Zealand.

Identification Services

Plant Pathology		Entomology and Nematology
A disease identification service for common and unusual diseases caused by fungi and bacteria, and for disorder identifications including physiological aberrations, nutritional deficiencies and toxicities and climatic and chemical damage. This service covers: Trees, shrubs and vines (orchard, plantation, amenity, nursery) Herbaceous crops (cut flower, cereal, vegetable, ornamental, nursery) Produce (fruit, vegetables, flowers, seeds, tubers, bulbs) Grasses, quasi-grasses and legumes (bowls, golf, recreational, pasture turfs) Root pathogen and commensal analyses of soil/potting mix media and of bore/dam/stream waters Fungus identifications for food technologists and crop scientists Tests of plants, plant parts or soil, for the presence or absence of a specific plant pathogen.		Services offered are similar to those for plant pathology, but within the entomology and nematology disciplines. Our services cover: Extraction and identification services with supporting technical information about insects, mites, other related invertebrates and nematodes in plant, soil and potting mix samples Pest identification, general diagnoses and control information Identification services and technical information about insect contaminants for food processing and retail industries Compilation of pest lists to MAF standards for growers and exporters Microscopic examination of internal body parts, joints and muscle tissue can indicate whether the specimen has been subjected to heat processing or cooking.
