So what do you do?
I'm a Dairy Compliance Auditor, which means I visit dairy factories, stores, transport depots and dairy farms to verify that they are operating in compliance with current legislation, and that their registered risk management programmes are effective in manufacturing dairy products that are safe and 'fit for purpose'. This takes me and the rest of the Dairy team all over the country (and occasionally overseas), and gives us the opportunity to visit a number of great companies that are managed by, and employ, a number of interesting and wonderful people.
Tell us a little about your work history
Wanting a break after finishing university, I found a work-for-keep role at a goat dairy farm in Uppsala, Sweden, and learnt to make artisan cheese on-farm in a small factory. When I returned to New Zealand I found a job as an Assistant Cheese-maker at a sheep cheese factory in Nelson, then took another sabbatical dairy farming in Timaru on a 1450-cow dairy farm, before moving back to Christchurch and starting out as the Compliance Manager at South Pacific Meats in Burnham. I was there for almost 12 months before I had the opportunity to cross back over to the dairy industry with my current role at AsureQuality.
What do you like most about working at AQ?
It's been said before, but the best part of my job is definitely the people. I have the privilege to work with a fantastic group of people who are passionate, work as a team and most importantly, are always good for a laugh.
